Dr. Thirumoorthi Ramalingam
(Associate Professor)

Ramalingam Thirumoorthi received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Madurai Kamaraj University and completed his Ph.D. degree under the supervision of Prof. V. Chandrasekhar at IIT Kanpur, India. Subsequently, he spent three years as a Post-doctoral Research Associate in the group of Prof. Tristram Chivers at the University of Calgary, Canada. He obtained the DST Young Scientists project and carried it out at IIT Madras for a year. Afterward, he served eight years as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the Central University of Rajasthan, India. He is currently working as an Associate Professor of Chemistry at the University of Delhi, India, where his research interests are in the areas of main-group element and organometallic chemistry. He published around 50 articles in international/national peer-reviewed journals. Particularly, he is focusing on (i) using inexpensive metal for synthesizing organic molecules through C-C, C-N, and C-O bond-forming reactions and (ii) thermal decomposition of main-group/transition metal carboxylates for preparing iron-doped metal oxides and studying magnetism.
