Dr. Sunil Kumar Sharma is a Senior Professor (HAG) at the Department of Chemistry, University of Delhi since 2020. He joined this Department in March 2004 as Associate Professor and was appointed full Professor in March 2010. He obtained BSc (Hons), MSc, and PhD degrees from the University of Delhi.  His research interests are in Organic synthesis, Biocatalysis, Stimuli-responsive polymer-based functional materials and Nanotechnology. He has Postdoctoral / Visiting Scientist research experience of more than ten years at Freie Universitat Berlin (Germany), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, USA), University of Massachusetts (USA), Boston College (USA), Copenhagen University & University of Southern Denmark (Denmark), University of Liverpool (UK), and CSIC (Spain). He has published over 175 peer reviewed journal papers with average impact of 4.4, a total citation of 6100 and an H-index of 42. He presented more than 120 research papers at Conferences/Symposia in China, Denmark, Germany, India, Italy, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, The Netherlands, UK & USA. Presently he has a research group of five PhD students. Twenty-four PhD and two MPhil degrees have been awarded to students under his supervision. He has been granted eleven major research projects funded by ASEAN-DST, BIRAC-DBT, CSIR, DBT, SERB-DST, DRDO, Government of India, DRDO-INMAS, Indo-German Science & Technology Center (IGSTC), Polytechnic University, New York (USA), and University of Delhi. He is having active research collaborations with various national and international (Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Thailand, USA) groups. He has been part of the key office bearers of many national and international conferences organized by the Department.
