Dr. Mrityunjay Kumar Tiwari

Dr. Mrityunjay Kumar Tiwari joined the department in May 2023 as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry. He completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Banaras Hindu University and the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, respectively. He earned his Ph.D. in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry from the CSIR–National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune – one of the premier research laboratories under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, under the supervision of Dr. Kumar Vanka. He subsequently carried out postdoctoral research at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Bhopal, under the mentorship of Dr. Rajesh K. Murarka. Before joining this department, he worked as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry in the School of Sciences at SAGE University, Bhopal.

During his doctoral studies, Dr. Tiwari received the Best Research Scholar, Best Poster and Best Essay awards from CSIR–NCL. He also served as the editor of the student magazines at CSIR–NCL and IISER Bhopal.

Dr. Tiwari’s research interests span a broad spectrum of theoretical and computational chemistry. His work includes elucidating reaction mechanisms, catalyst design for small-molecule activation, investigation of non-covalent interactions, and exploration of the role of osmolytes in the stability and function of chemical and biological systems. He has taught the following courses in the Department of Chemistry, University of Delhi: Mathematical Methods, Quantum Chemistry, and Statistical Mechanics.
